The Victoria County Genealogical Society met for its Christmas party on Dec. 12.
Doris Obsta and the hospitality committee provided a Mexican meal of tamales, chili, beans, trimmings and desserts. Jack Motley and Jackie Salas provided music for the evening, playing and singing folk songs.
New officers were installed for the 2012-13 term. They are: Jeff Wright, vice president; Laverne Glover, corresponding secretary/inquires; Leona Booth, historian; Louise Browning, publicity/parliamentarian; and Charlene Newton, hospitality.
The retiring officers were Karen Mueller, Linda Langnau, Janice Fait and Doris Obsta.
Members paid the 2012 membership dues and $271 was collected for the Food Bank of Victoria. Membership dues are $20 per year and open to anyone interested in genealogy. Membership dues for 2012 are due by Dec. 31, and may be mailed to the Society at P.O. Box 413 Victoria, TX 77902-0413.
The membership includes residents of Victoria, Lavaca, DeWitt, Goliad, Refugio, Calhoun and Jackson counties. For more information, contact Kenneth Booth at 361-575-7584 or Janice Fait at 361-782-6109.
