i might be able to get a scholarship for my Genealogy if i can accurately state it. any advice?

If, for instance, you are going for a scholarship open only to descendants of Civil War veterans, then a copy of your ancestor’s service record or pension application would start you off. Wills, census listings, marriage licences, birth certificates, cemetery records, obituaries and death certificates would complete the trail.
A family rumor that great-great uncle Ebeneezer spent three years in the 43rd Ohio Volunteer Infanty isn’t enough, usually.
